Denis Hayes on Tackling Climate Change

Lisa Hayes popped me an article by Denis Hayes, a man who suspiciously seems related to Lisa, “Fantastic new article by Denis Hayes about energy policy — please feel free to share far and wide!” Well, I am the biggest fan of Lisa and so here we go — my attempt to share this article a wee little further and wider: Climate Solutions: Charting a Bold Course A cap-and-trade system is not the answer, according to a leading

America Needs Eisenhower-Americans, Not "I-Rove-Bots". The Politics of Media Bling! Free Mkt Entitlement v Economic Parasitism!

For Eisenhower and America in the 50's, keeping politics separate from "corporate greed" was as fundamental as separating "religion" from government. In his State of the Union Address of l955, Eisenhower stated "materialism is a fatal flaw". Only "Team America" can beat "Team Globalism".  If we don't join the fight, today, we are doomed to be "Chinese parasites", a communist dependency rather than masters of a "free world ".   Screw Globalist! America OFF YOUR KNEES!!!

Personal Rant #3,896: Environmental Extremists Hurt the Planet and Make Life Difficult on Real Activists

Here is an email I wrote to an enviro-wacko from a real activist (me) that works in the field and not from the comfort of his own little studio. He had claimed that all hunters are, basically, evil:

Not that bright?

On the official HAARP site there is a Q&A section in which it was said that the artificial aurora produced during HAARP experiments is negligable. In this paper submitted to the Second World Space Congress held in 2002, another story seems to emerge. Excerpts are from an abstract at the Smithsonian NASA/ADS Astronomy Abstract Service.

Yellowstone Bison Slaughter a Sham

Once again the state of Montana, along with Yellowstone National Park, are killing bison migrating out of Yellowstone National Park. The slaughter of Yellowstone’s bison is represented as a disease contamination program, but it is really a sham. If disease control were the issue, we wouldn’t be killing bison. The more you know about the brucellosis-bison issue, the angrier you get.

We Ought Not Grow Cows In Dry West

It has been estimated that if all of the ranching that exists from the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains to the west coast of the United States was eliminated that only two percent of the national beef production would be affected. This is because of the nature of the landscape in the west of America where it takes about fifty times the amount of land to raise one cow as it does in the biomass-rich east. Given how much more delicate the countryside is in the region, it makes little sense to put cows all over and make the entire west into what Edward Abbey called "cow burnt." In case you are wondering: no, bison do not have nearly the effect that cattle do. Hoof shape and the migratory instinct lessen such impact.

Schumann’s Resonances and Vision 2020

The rhythm of life has evolved at an even tempo for epochs. We live in a complex matrix of oscillating fields; the tiniest fluctuations in one interlocked field carry over perturbations into others. Many times per second, pulses travel completely around the world between our planet's surface and the ionosphere sending coordinating signals to all organisms. These signals couple us to the global electrostatic field. Named for their discoverer, the Schumann Resonance (SR) provides an orchestrating pulse for life on our planet.

Dispelling the Cowboy Myth

Open space isn't necessarily good for wildlife or ecosystem protection. If that were the case, then Montana would not have any endangered species. There would be bison, wolves, grizzlies and sage grouse everywhere—but these species are on the verge of extinction. Why? Because of sprawl? Hardly. Because of agriculture—primarily livestock production.

Yellowstone Buffalo Slaughter History

More wild buffalo have been slaughtered in America in the past ten years than at any time in the last century. Capitalizing on the Indian's complete dependence upon the buffalo, 19th century government leaders launched a campaign to wipe them out, and in so doing, force the Indians into a sedentary lifestyle more in line with the prevailing European notions of private property and "civilization."

British Columbia: Ancient Trees Emerge from Ice

The mound of data that is already mountainous in proportions grows even higher; I speak, of course, of the evidence that what is happening to the atmosphere on Earth is unprecedented. Like most of it, it is unambiguous. See On Global Warming: A Challenge to Skeptics.

New Document Reveals HAARP's Mystery's Powers

Of course, always caveat lector when dealing with Wired Magazine. While they do a pretty good job of coming up with some of the more attention-grabbing headlines, they are rumored to have an inordinately high concentration of ex-NSA employees working on their staff. This particular piece posits that HAARP is not an anti-missile technology, nor a weather modification instrument nor, are we to believe, is it a communications exponentiator.

Weather Modification

Former national security advisor to Jimmy Carter, Zbigniew Brzezinski, in 1970: "Technology will make available, to the leaders of major nations, techniques for conducting secret warfare of which only a bare minimum of the security forces need be appraised…Technology of weather modification could be employed to produce prolonged periods of drought or storm."

September 26, 1983 -- Stanislav Petrov Saves the World

Stanislav Yevgrafovich Petrov is a retired Russian Strategic Rocket Forces lieutenant colonel who, on September 26, 1983, prevented a nuclear attack on the United States. Computer reports into the Strategic Rocket Forces command from their satellites indicated incoming U.S. nuclear missiles. Petrov made the decision to call it a false alarm, when all indications were that it was an impending nuclear attack. The computer reports were later confirmed to have been in error. Because of military secrecy and international policy, Petrov's actions were kept secret until 1998.

On Global Warming: A Challenge to Skeptics

To deny that humans are affecting the warming of the planet and exacerbating it is to deny that either A) the gases released by human industry trap heat or that B) human industry emits such gases. Either is easily proven. So, global warming deniers, which is it?

October Update on the Renewable Electricity Standard (RES)

I wanted to let you know what's going on with the Renewable Electricity Standard (RES) part of the aggressive "Energy Bill 2007" that my consortium and I are trying to into law. I have been focusing on CAFE Standards, 35 mpg by 2020, but there is also a renewable energy component that would increase the proportion of solar, wind, and others, to 15% by 2020.

As Seen in Roll Call and The Hill

The attached print ad ran on Tuesday, October 16th and Thursday, October 18th exclusively in print cein Roll Call and The Hill and Thursday, October 18th in Congress Daily.

We put a man on the moon in 8 years. We can reach 35 mpg by 2020.

Compared to other challenges America has met, this one is pretty easy. The National Academy of Sciences says we already have the technology to get the overall fleet of new cars and light trucks in the U.S. to average 35 miles per gallon by 2020, without sacrificing vehicle size, safety or acceleration.

And the University of Michigan’s Transportation Research Institute says the Senate’s bipartisan fuel economy bill will help Detroit compete, increasing industry profits and saving auto jobs. Of course, the auto lobby is still saying it can’t be done. But that’s what they said about seat belts, airbags, you name it.

This isn’t rocket science.
Pass the Senate compromise
auto fuel efficiency bill.

Pass a Good Energy Bill and Get Us Into the End Zone!

The following print ad was published as a full page ad in the Santa Fe - New Mexican -- I have provided the copy with various-sized images for your easy and convenience:

Representative Udall:

Thank You for Your Leadership on the Energy Bill... Now Get Us Into the End Zone!

This summer, members of the House and Senate each worked hard to pass energy bills. Now it’s time for Congress to finish the job and pass a comprehensive bill – one that will bring the nation’s fleet of cars and trucks to an average of 35 mpg and 15 percent of our electricity coming from renewable energy by 2020.

This is a critical step in the fight to break America of its addiction to fossil fuels and a down payment in combating global warming.

This is our chance to make our country more energy independent, create good jobs, save consumers money, protect our natural resources, and reduce the growth of global warming pollution.
