Barack Obama

I am sitting here in Berlin, Germany, listening to NPR on 104.1 FM (yes, we have National Public Radio on-tap in Berlin, it is true), and I am rooting for Barack Obama. I have to admit that I voted Republican in the last two elections, in 2000 and 2004, because I was appalled by both Gore and Kerry. I was passionate about Bill Clinton during his eight years in office and preferred anything to Gore or Kerry, to be honest. That said, I want Barack Obama to win because the world wants Barack Obama to win.

The election is about to turn really ugly... and Minh Le is afraid that they've painted Barack Obama into a corner... this is how he'd like to see him respond, who knows if it would help:

Hey friends, Yesterday was a big day for Barack Obama - winning more states and more delegates than Hillary Clinton. The momentum is on our side. I find it very exciting that Barack has been able to speak to such a broad spectrum of Americans. Our nation faces huge challenges. We need a leader who can turn the page - and bring the courage and integrity this nation needs.

My mother endorses Barack Obama, all of my friends endorse Barack Obama, and two Kennedys endorse Barack Obama: Ted Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy both. On the last endorsement, you really need to read Caroline Kennedy's op-ed piece in the Times. Here's a choice quote -- and she is speaking about Senator Barack Obama, "I have never had a president who inspired me the way people tell me that my father inspired them. But for the first time, I believe I have found the man who could be that president — not just for me, but for a new generation of Americans." Via the New York Times and Chris Abraham

Assuming that Barack Obama wins the 2008 Presidential Election (and I believe he will) then you can guarantee that after pledging to re-engage the 'war on terror' back to it's original mission (quite possibly in the wake of some new terrorist attack) the above catchphrase will drip from newspaper headlines and media outlets the world over.
