As far as my uber-trendy-international-blogging-chick friend is concerned, memes are internet fads. The term, meme, is rapidly spreading through internet social networks to describe all that which is propagated electronically, and it looks like the revised definition may become pandemic.
Up until now, the concept of memes has been something of an esoteric phenomenon: Virulent amongst certain academic and analytical circles - largely unknown to everyone else. Now it seems that the cyber-cool-club have hijacked the term for themselves, and it's definition comes with a distinct lack of reference to mind-viruses. Purely technological; Unable to propagate without the use of the internet.
How this (unwelcome) evolution has come about is a mystery, although it would appear that meme is now being used as short-hand for internet meme. Consequently, the term meme could potentially fall into an irritating arena of linguistic ambiguity.
I propose a counter-measure: E-MEMES!
Attention blogtastic-metropolitan-20-somethings: Memes are not exclusively internet memes! E-MEMES are exclusively internet memes! Viruses propagate from biology to biology. Memes propagate from mind to mind. E-Memes propagate from computer to computer.
I originally considered I-Meme, and then iMeme as a suitable alternative, but decided Ememe or E-Meme was far superior, if not just for the palindromic coolness of it.
So Memes.org readers, next time you hear your uber-trendy-international-blogging-chick friend talking of the latest meme she has just received, be sure to set the record straight. It's not a meme. IT'S AN E-MEME!

does the functionality of 'meme' utilize a process of 'educe' ?
