just go onto the noaa site for earthquakes. pull up "all earthquakes" Northern Nevada... there you have an "earthquake" at (0.00) "depth" (which means a surface strike) of 1.3 magnitude on Monday, 9/3 (I don't like that date!) A surface strike's magnitude can vary based on distance from monitoring station.
This "surface" strike was 22 km ENE of Tonopah, NV...precisely the heading of Fossett's last discussions from the Hilton Flying M Ranch, 70 miles South East of Reno. Latitude 38.174! (zorro was off a few miles!) That makes it about 375 miles. The time doesn't match...but he could well have flown around all day. Up and Down and Just ran out of gas!
