The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has just drafted a rule that would consider it abortion when a contraceptive prevents a fertilized egg from embedding itself in the uterine wall. Thus, many types of legal birth control and contraception are now bizarrely classified by the Bush administration as "abortions."
Bloomberg.com explains that the move is a preliminary step in a war on access to contraception in America, being waged by pro-life forces as they simultaneously wait for the overturning of Roe. v. Wade. Bush-appointed Office of Population Affairs head Susan Orr explains that contraception is part of a "culture of death."
